Final-State Interactions Meeting

America/New_York
Description

Final-state interactions play an essential role in the analysis of nuclear breakup processes in high-energy scattering. They are often the limiting factor in the physics results coming out of (e,e’N), tagged DIS, SRC/EMC and other experiments.

A coordinated effort to understand/characterize final-state interactions is needed to reach the next level of precision and realize the potential of nuclear breakup measurements. In addition, final-state interactions explore the space-time evolution of high-energy scattering and hadronization dynamics and are an object of research in their own right.

This meeting is intended to formulate a plan for next-level modeling and implementation of FSI in nuclear breakup measurements.

We will discuss the questions:

  • What reactions and data are/will be available for investigating FSI and testing models?
  • What level/precision of FSI modeling will be needed for physics extraction from breakup measurements?
  • What theoretical approaches to FSI are available and could/should be developed further?
